Bio
Jess Middleton is a freelance photographer, videographer, creator and director. After moving to Melbourne, she quickly became sought after for her distinct music event photography and now works commercially, creating stills and video work for various businesses and brands.
Her passion for music and fun saw her shoot hundreds of events and festival shows and she has been fortunate to tour several times throughout Asia as a photographer with DJ duo NERVO.
It is from years these years of shooting music events that Jess honed her approach and skills in shooting documentary style which she enjoys utilising where possible in work for lifestyle campaigns, portraits and advertising work.
Regardless of shooting style, Jess always aims to create strong imagery.
Jess’ distinctive style of shooting and capturing moments lead to her first photo exhibition, ‘UP^3AM’, 2019. Since then, Jess has exhibited at The Dirty Dozen space, under Flinders st Station in Melbourne, with thanks to Creative Spaces and the City of Melbourne in 2020 and again in 2021. The show was a follow up to her previous exhibition and titled ‘Youth and Interaction’. The latter show in 2021 featured a video work titled ‘In Dreams’, which was directed and edited by Jess.
Prior to moving to Melbourne, Jess completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Film and Television Production) at QUT in Brisbane. Her background in film production has given her an eye for storytelling which she translates into her work today.
Combined with the skills she has developed in capturing and working with talent, Jess aspires to continue more video creation and directing work.
Her love for creating and directing video projects saw Jess recently create a Youtube Australian music show, hosted by respected music journalist Jane Gazzo called ATV (Action Time Vision).
